Toward With Corona

We would like to express our deepest sympathies to those companies that have been severely affected by the new coronavirus. Although our efforts are very small, please contact us if we can be of any assistance.

As usual, I am continuing my life of self-restraint. I have not made a single business trip since my last trip to Tokyo in mid-February, and I have also drastically reduced my outings. Although there has not been a single case of infection in Kurume City since May, I am still afraid of infection.
All internal meetings are web-based. We also request web-based meetings with suppliers and other stakeholders. The rest of my time is spent attending various seminars on the web. It is probably one of the few advantages of the Corona Disaster that I can now obtain information from my desk that I could not obtain without traveling to Tokyo. I have attended a variety of paid and free ones.

The following are some of the major predictions we can make based on these discussions.

◆Development of digitalization and EC
◆Talent Mobility, Remote Work Establishment
◆Establishment of infection anxiety psychology
◆Establishment of needs to eliminate infection anxiety

Everyone, both government and business, has noticed how far behind Japan is in digitalization compared to countries such as China and South Korea, and it is expected that Japan, which has had a relatively low EC conversion rate, will see an uptick in this corona. This is the reason why mail order and non-personal sales are becoming more and more important for all kinds of businesses.
We have also seen significant growth in mail-order sales (printing and hygiene products).
Many of us have experienced remote work and found that it is completely comparable to the way we work in some departments and occupations. I realized that ZOOM is sufficient without meeting in person. In addition, more people seemed to want to work in rural areas that are not "dense" including commuting.
And then there is "infection anxiety" to consider. I also find myself not wanting to touch the shopping cart at the convenience store or the elevator button at the apartment building.
It seems that people were nervous for a while during the Spanish flu a long time ago. Conversely, this is a point of differentiation, and if there are similar stores, people will choose the one with the best infection control measures (or the one with the same measures but with better appeal). It is believed that infection control measures from the customer's perspective will be essential.

The company will work with suppliers and others to assist with these measures.
