President's Column] We contribute to our customers' sales increase in both BtoB and BtoC.

We would like to wish you a very Happy New Year, and look forward to your continued support and patronage in the New Year.

We are very sorry for the devastation caused by the Corona disaster last year, and we are also very sorry for the powerless efforts of our customers.

As of this writing (December 15), the number of infected people continues to increase and the GoTo Travel campaign has finally been suspended.

In Europe and the United States, where many people have already died and the mortality rate is high, the risk of corona infection is thought to be higher than the risk of the vaccine itself, and the vaccination rate may be high; however, it is unknown how many people in Japan, where the mortality rate is low, would be vaccinated against the risky vaccine.

We should pessimistically expect the coronary disaster to continue for another year or two at the worst, and hope for the development of special drugs...

We have struggled so hard that we have been accused of being a bit of a "dunce" in our own company.

Interesting data from Tokyo Shoko Research shows that less than 5% of listed companies have actually announced upward revisions due to the Corona disaster (approximately 30% of all downward revisions). (Of course, there are many easily imaginable reasons for this, such as nest egg consumption, increased demand for eating at home, and increased sales of hygiene products, but the number one factor by far is cost reduction.

We have also been able to reduce overtime work significantly by eliminating lodging, transportation, and entertainment expenses associated with business trips, and by dispatching support staff from busy departments to busy departments. There are also several tasks that we were able to automate with RPA.

We will have to cover the negative effects of the business by capturing the high demand for nest eggs and home cooking, by handling the packaging materials that arise from such demand, and by expanding sales of sanitary products that we have originally sold. We will accelerate our efforts this fiscal year to sell more of our customers' food products, even if we have to work a little harder.

We are also preparing to provide full-fledged assistance in food development and OEM business matching starting this year, and we have outside professionals involved in both efforts.

We will do our best to help our customers increase their sales in both B-to-C and B-to-B. We appreciate your cooperation and guidance.

This year is the year of the Ox, the 38th of the 60 signs of the Chinese zodiac, which consists of the 10 signs of the zodiac (A, B, C, D, Boshi, Boshi, K, Se, K, G, and M) and the 12 signs of the Chinese zodiac.

The Chinese character for "Ox" has the meaning of "to hold strong," "to tie together," "to nourish," etc. It is also said to have the meaning of starting something, while the Chinese character for "shin" (辛) means "hard. In other words, the combination of the Chinese character for "shin" and the Chinese character for "ox" makes this year the year for everyone to join hands and start anew, even in difficult circumstances.

We are looking forward to a year in which we can turn things around by joining hands with our customers and starting something new and positive.

In closing, I would like to wish you and your families a happy and healthy year ahead.
