[President's Column] Issue No. 200 of the "Sanpo Yoshi" Newsletter: Our Heartfelt Thanks for 16 Years of Your Support

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for your 16 years of support. I’m surprised to hear that this month marks the 200th issue.

Sixteen years ago, we began publishing this “Sanpo-Yoshi Newsletter” based on a proposal from Takuya Numazawa, who was consulting for our sales department at the time. I believe I wrote about half of the articles for issues 1 through 10. I was determined to keep our company’s sales pitches to a minimum and focus on providing information that would be useful to our customers.

I still remember how I suddenly felt anxious right before shipping out the very first issue. “Will people laugh at a small-town packaging and printing shop for doing something so audacious?” In the end, I can’t even begin to describe how much I was encouraged by the positive feedback I received—far more than I had expected. I kept sending them to people I’d exchanged business cards with at trade shows, and there were even cases where I received inquiries from them about five years later.

We had been preparing our CRM system to send information via email—since information tends to lose its timeliness in print—when the COVID-19 pandemic struck. I believe this turned out to be a blessing in disguise, allowing us to deliver a fair amount of timely information to our customers.

You may feel that we are sending these messages too frequently or that the content is too heavily focused on promoting our company. We humbly ask for your candid and frank feedback.

With the publication of this 200th issue, we would like to reaffirm our commitment to making “usefulness” to our customers the main focus of our newsletter. With the start of the vaccination campaign, we can now see a faint glimmer of hope at the end of this pandemic. We sincerely wish you all good health and continued success. Thank you, as always.
