Today is March 11 (at the time of writing), 11 years after the Great East Japan Earthquake. 11 years ago, I was on a business trip to Kagoshima, and I remember watching the TV in my hotel in Kagoshima, stunned by the devastation.
I am sure that everyone in the Tohoku region has gone through hard days that cannot be described in words. The nuclear power plant problem has left its mark on the region.
And now the Russian invasion of Ukraine. While many experts predicted that it would be a quandary, it was carried out. I would like to express my deepest condolences to the Ukrainian soldiers and citizens who lost their lives. We can only hope that peace will return soon.
When this happens, it is not enough to run a business. Everything will come to nothing.
Fortunately, peace has been maintained in our country so far, but our country borders totalitarian countries led by unpredictable leaders such as Russia, North Korea, and China, so we are always at great risk. I watch the news reports with such an eye that if there is an invasion against our country, it will be like in Ukraine. Fire insurance is also exempted in case of war or conflict. In other words, we would lose everything. Reconstruction will not be easy.
What preparations can be made? Decentralization of manufacturing facilities, foreign currency, gold, underground shelters? We cannot afford to be indifferent to politics (national defense). In addition, we must be prepared for natural disasters such as floods and earthquakes, which will surely come one day. This is what I was thinking about this morning.
May the world be at peace.
